16.6 mm gold bangle width shown on a wrist

Our widest bangle. Bold, sculptural, and designed to be worn alone.

Photo shows 15 mm — the closest available comparison. This bangle is wider still.

Wider does not always mean heavier. Our 16.6 mm plain bangle weighs about 20.8 g, while an 8.5 mm mesh bangle weighs about 26.8 g — the narrower one is heavier because it is solid, where the wider one is hollow. Hollow construction is what keeps a broad bangle light and comfortable. The exact width, weight and construction of this piece are listed in the specifications above.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers to what customers ask us most before choosing a Rudix gold bangle.

Is this bangle real gold?

Yes — genuine karat gold throughout (10K, 14K, or 18K). Not gold-plated brass. Not gold-filled. The metal is real karat gold at the marked purity, all the way through the wall.

Each bangle is hand-stamped with its karat purity (10K / 417, 14K / 585, 18K / 750) and arrives with a Certificate of Authenticity. Take it to any jeweller in the world and the stamp will match the spec.

How do I know it will fit?

A bangle has no clasp, so it has to pass over the widest part of your hand — not your wrist. Measuring takes about thirty seconds:

  • Bring your thumb across to touch your little finger, as if slipping a bangle on.
  • Wrap a tape measure or a strip of paper around the widest point of your hand in that position.
  • That measurement is the minimum inner circumference your bangle needs.
  • To convert to inner diameter, divide by 3.14.

Compare that against the measurement shown in the specifications above. If you're between sizes, go up — a bangle that won't pass the hand can't be worn at all, while a slightly loose one simply sits lower on the wrist.

Not sure? Send us your measurement at info@rudixjewellery.com and we'll tell you honestly whether this piece will work, before you order.

What's the difference between a solid and a hollow bangle — and which should I choose?

Both are genuine karat gold. The difference is the construction, and it's shown in the specifications for every piece.

  • Solid: gold all the way through. Heavier, more durable, more gold for the money in melt terms — and priced accordingly.
  • Hollow: a gold tube with an air core. This is how a wide, substantial-looking bangle stays light enough to wear all day, and how it stays affordable at a larger width.

The honest trade-off: hollow gold has a thinner wall than it appears. It can dent if knocked hard or squeezed, and a deep dent is difficult to fully reverse. If you want a bold look at a comfortable weight and you're mindful with it, hollow is excellent value. If you want something to wear hard and never think about, choose solid.

We'd rather tell you this before you buy than after.

How do I put on a slip-on bangle without damaging it?

Slip-on and cuff styles are designed to pass over the hand with a gentle flex — not to be opened and closed like a hinge.

  • Tuck your thumb toward your little finger to narrow your hand.
  • Ease the bangle over the knuckles with steady, even pressure.
  • A little hand cream helps if it's snug.

What to avoid: prising a cuff open wide and squeezing it shut each time you wear it. Gold has memory, but repeated flexing gradually stretches the form until it no longer holds shape. Put it on the way it was designed to go on and it'll keep its form for decades.

Why does this cost more than the "gold" bangles I see online?

Because we're selling actual gold, not a coating over base metal.

A cheap "18K gold plated" bangle is brass or copper with a microscopic gold layer. The plating wears through within months, the base metal underneath tarnishes and reacts with skin, and the piece has no resale or melt value whatsoever.

A Rudix bangle is karat gold throughout. Melt it down tomorrow and the entire piece weighs out as real 10K, 14K, or 18K gold at market price. It holds value, it doesn't tarnish, and it's gentle against skin.

Our prices move with the daily gold market, because that's what you're actually buying.

Will it tarnish or change colour over time?

No. Genuine karat gold doesn't corrode or turn skin green the way plated jewellery does. Your bangle keeps its real-gold value for a lifetime.

What does happen with any fine gold: the mirror-bright finish gradually softens as the surface collects micro-scratches from everyday wear, and skin oils and lotions dull the shine. That's normal for all karat gold, and it's fully reversible with cleaning — which we do free, annually, for as long as you own the piece.

On white gold specifically: the bright silvery finish comes from a thin rhodium plating, standard across the industry. It gradually wears over one to three years and can be refreshed with professional re-plating.

On two-tone and tri-colour pieces: the different colours are different gold alloys, not a surface treatment. They won't fade into one another.

Is the listed weight exact?

It's approximate, not exact, and it's the weight of a single bangle. Each piece is finished individually, and minor production variation means the actual weight may differ slightly from the listed figure — typically within a few percent.

Weight also rises with karat: the same design in 18K weighs more than in 10K, because there's more gold in the alloy. Each karat option shows its own weight.

We list approximate weights because we'd rather be honest than pretend every piece comes out identical to the gram. Your Certificate of Authenticity shows the actual weight of the bangle you receive.

Can I wear it every day? Can I shower or swim in it?

Daily wear: absolutely. A bangle is made to live on the wrist.

Swimming, heavy exercise, sleeping: better off. Chlorine and salt water are hard on gold alloys, gym equipment is exactly what dents a hollow bangle, and sleeping in one puts the form under pressure all night. Apply lotions and perfume before putting it on, not after.

A shower now and then won't harm it — but soap builds up in textured and mesh designs and dulls them faster.

Can a bangle be resized or repaired?

Often, yes — but with limits worth knowing up front.

Solid bangles can usually be adjusted, reshaped and repolished by our bench. Hollow bangles are far more delicate to work on: the wall is thin, and reshaping a dent stretches and thins the metal further. We can almost always improve a damaged piece, but we can't always return it to exactly how it left us.

Bring it into our Hamilton store and we'll tell you honestly what's achievable and quote you fairly before any work starts. We'd always rather repair your piece than see you replace it.

Are the baby bangles safe for children?

Our baby and children's bangles are the same genuine karat gold as the adult pieces, with no plating to wear through onto young skin — which is why gold has been the traditional choice for children's jewellery across many cultures.

Please supervise. Any jewellery on a small child should be worn under adult supervision, and removed for sleep and unsupervised play. Check the fit regularly as your child grows.

They make a lasting christening, naming, or first-birthday gift — and they keep their gold value long after they're outgrown.

Is it safe to buy gold jewellery online?

With the right seller, yes. Here's how we protect you:

  • Every order ships in tamper-evident packaging
  • Tracked, insured shipping on every order
  • 30-day returns on unworn pieces in original condition
  • A real Hamilton, Ontario shop you can call or walk into if anything goes wrong
  • Owner-led service — we don't outsource it and we don't disappear after the sale
What makes Rudix different?
  • We're a real bricks-and-mortar jeweller in Hamilton, Ontario — not a warehouse, not a dropshipper. Walk in, call us, or speak to the owner directly.
  • We work directly with our manufacturer, so there's no chain of middlemen between the workshop and your wrist.
  • Every piece is inspected before it ships, and we'll clean and inspect it free, once a year, for as long as you own it.

Years from now, if it needs attention, you talk to us — not a chatbot.

What's included, and what if it's a gift that doesn't fit?

Every bangle arrives with a jewellery box, Certificate of Authenticity, polishing cloth and printed care card, with free standard shipping to Canada and the US and complimentary gift wrapping on request.

If it doesn't fit: you have 30 days from delivery to return or exchange, provided the bangle is unworn and in original condition with everything it came with. Because bangles have no adjustable clasp, fit is the most common reason for exchange — so we make it straightforward.

Custom, engraved, personalised and made-to-order pieces are non-returnable except for a manufacturing defect. The receipt isn't included in the gift box by default; leave a note at checkout if you'd like a gift message instead.
