Our Promise

Why Rudix Quality

Every chain we sell is chosen and finished to one standard — it has to last. Here's how we make sure of that, from the workshop to your neck.

Real Karat Gold, Properly Stamped

Every chain is solid karat gold — not plated, not filled, not coated. The karat shown is what you get all the way through: 10K is 41.7% pure gold, 14K is 58.5%, and 18K is 75%.

Each piece is hand-stamped before it leaves the workshop — marked with either its karat number (10K, 14K, 18K) or its European millesimal equivalent (417, 585, 750). Both mean the same thing. The stamp is your verification, and the Certificate of Authenticity in your box confirms it on paper.

Built to Be Worn Every Day

A chain isn't a one-time outfit piece — it's something you wear for years. Our pieces are made for that.

  • Solid chains are dense and substantial, built to handle daily wear without losing shape.
  • Hollow chains stay lighter on the neck and more affordable, with the same karat purity and clean construction throughout. They're slightly more susceptible to dents from sharp impact than solid pieces — fair to know if you wear yours through tough environments.

Either way, every Rudix chain is inspected before it ships: solder is clean, clasps tested, finishes smooth. Treated well, your chain will outlast trends.

Honest Weight, Honest Price

Gold is sold by weight — and we list the weight up front for every piece. We list it as approximate because each chain is finished individually, and minor production variations mean the actual weight may vary slightly from the listed figure (typically within a few percent). We'd rather be honest than pretend chains roll off a press identical to the gram. The Certificate of Authenticity in your box shows the actual weight of your specific piece.

Because we work directly with our manufacturer, our pricing reflects the gold and the craftsmanship — not three middlemen between the workshop and your door.

Backed by After-Sale Service

Every chain ships with a 3-Year Extended Care Plan at no extra cost — annual professional cleaning and polish, plus covered repairs for normal wear. After three years, you can renew at our member-friendly rate.

We're a real shop in Hamilton, Ontario. Call us, email us, or walk in. If anything ever needs attention years from now, you talk to a person who knows the piece — not a call center.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick, honest answers to the questions our customers ask most often before buying a Rudix gold chain.

Is this chain real gold? How can I be sure?

Yes — every Rudix chain is genuine karat gold throughout (10K, 14K, or 18K). Not gold-plated brass. Not gold-filled. Whether the construction is solid or hollow (shown in the specifications above), every surface and every interior wall is real karat gold of the marked purity.

Each piece is hand-stamped with its karat purity (10K / 417, 14K / 585, or 18K / 750) and arrives with a Certificate of Authenticity. Take it to any jeweler in the world and the stamp will match the spec.

What's the difference between solid and hollow gold chains?

Both are real karat gold from end to end — the difference is the construction inside each link.

  • Solid: dense all the way through. Heavier, more durable, higher price.
  • Hollow: tube-shaped links that look like thicker chains but stay lighter on the neck. Same karat purity — just less metal per inch.

Solid for substance and maximum durability. Hollow for the look of a thicker chain at a lighter weight and price. Construction type for this piece is shown in the specifications above.

Why does a Rudix gold chain cost more than the "gold" chains I see on Amazon or eBay?

Because we're selling actual gold, not a layer of gold over base metal.

A $20 "18K gold plated" chain online is a brass or copper chain with a microscopic gold coating. The plating wears off in months, the base metal underneath tarnishes and reacts with skin, and the chain has no resale or melt value.

A Rudix chain is solid or hollow karat gold throughout — meaning if you melted it down tomorrow, the entire piece would weigh out as real 10K, 14K, or 18K gold at current market prices. It holds its value, doesn't tarnish, and is genuinely heirloom-quality.

You're paying for the metal itself, not just a finish.

Is it safe to buy gold jewelry online?

With the right seller, yes. Here's how Rudix protects you:

  • Every package ships in tamper-evident packaging
  • Tracked, insured shipping on every order
  • 30-day returns on unworn pieces — Canada, US, and international
  • A real Hamilton, Ontario shop you can call or visit if anything goes wrong
  • Owner-led customer service — we don't outsource and we don't disappear after the sale
What makes Rudix different from buying gold elsewhere?

A few things set us apart:

  • We're a real bricks-and-mortar jeweler in Hamilton, Ontario — not a warehouse or a dropshipper. You can walk in, call us, or talk to the owner directly.
  • We work directly with our manufacturer, so there's no chain of middlemen marking up the price between the workshop and your neck.
  • Every piece is hand-stamped, hand-finished, and inspected before it ships.
  • Every order includes a 3-Year Care Plan with free annual polishing and covered repairs — most online sellers don't offer this.

If anything ever needs attention years from now, you don't talk to a chatbot — you talk to us.

Will the chain tarnish or change color over time?

No — and here's the honest version. Genuine karat gold doesn't corrode or turn skin green the way gold-plated or base-metal jewelry does. Your chain keeps its real-gold value for a lifetime.

What does happen naturally with any fine gold jewelry: the original mirror-bright finish gradually softens as the surface picks up micro-scratches from everyday wear, and skin oils, lotions, and perfume can build up in the link crevices and dull the shine. This is normal for all karat gold regardless of brand — and it's fully reversible with cleaning.

A note on white gold specifically: the bright silvery finish comes from a thin layer of rhodium plating, standard across the fine jewelry industry. The rhodium gradually wears over 1–3 years and is refreshed during routine professional cleaning.

Your 3-Year Extended Care Plan covers free annual professional polish and cleaning for three full years — included with every purchase.

How do I choose the right chain length?

Standard guide for most adults:

  • 16" — choker, sits at base of neck
  • 18" — just below the collarbone (most common)
  • 20" — mid-chest, shows under collared shirts
  • 22"–24" — sits over the chest, ideal with pendants
  • 26"–30" — long, great for layering

Tip: measure a chain you already wear and love — that's your length.

Can I add a pendant? Will it match a pendant in a different karat?

Yes — chain gauge determines which pendants will work:

  • 1–1.5mm chains: light pendants (initials, charms)
  • 2–3mm chains: standard pendants (crosses, religious pieces)
  • 4mm+ chains: heavier pendants (medallions, large crosses)

Mixing karats is completely fine — a 14K chain happily carries an 18K pendant. Color compatibility (yellow, white, rose) matters more visually than karat purity.

Can I wear it every day? Can I shower or swim with it?

Daily wear: yes. Gold chains are made to be worn often.

Showering, swimming, exercising, sleeping: no. Apply lotions, perfumes, and hairspray before putting it on. Take it off at night. Treated well, your chain will look new for years — see our Care Instructions section for the full routine.

Is the listed weight exact?

Honest answer: it's approximate, not exact. Each chain is finished individually, and minor production variations mean the actual weight may vary slightly from the listed figure (typically within a few percent).

We list approximate weights because we'd rather be honest than pretend every chain comes out identical to the gram. The Certificate of Authenticity that ships with your order shows the actual weight of your specific piece.

Do you offer custom lengths or sizes?

The lengths shown are kept in regular stock. Custom lengths or special sizes may be available on request — email info@rudixjewellery.com with your specs and we'll quote it.

Note: custom and special-order pieces are not eligible for return unless there's a manufacturing defect.

3-Year Extended Care Plan — Details

Your plan commences on the date of pickup or the date your order is shipped, whichever applies.

Plan Coverage — What's Included Each Year

Once per year, for three full years, your plan covers:

  • Polish & cleaning — free annual polish and cleaning to maintain brilliance
  • Clasp repair or replacement — repair first; replacement only if it cannot be repaired
  • Link repair or replacement — same approach; broken or stretched links restored when possible
  • Damage repair — one complimentary repair annually for accidental damage (subject to inspection — most damage can be repaired)
  • Wear assessment & inspection — we check for early issues before they become real problems

Each benefit is redeemable once per year and does not accumulate. Services must be utilized within each year of coverage and do not carry over to subsequent years.

The Parts Rule

For any repair that involves replacing a clasp, a link, or any other component, you must bring the broken part(s) back with the chain.

This protects both of us. It confirms the part failed through normal wear and isn't simply missing — and it lets us match the gauge, weight, and finish of the original. Pieces brought in without their broken components will be assessed individually and may not be covered.

Specific Exclusions

The Care Plan covers normal wear and accidental damage subject to inspection. It does not cover:

  • Loss or theft of the piece (this is insurance territory)
  • Damage resulting from unauthorized repairs performed elsewhere
  • Major restoration, redesign, or modification
  • Resizing beyond minor adjustments
  • Repairs requiring entirely new components when the broken part isn't returned

If something falls outside the plan, we'll tell you up front, give you an honest quote, and the choice is yours.

Proof of Purchase & Eligibility

Keep your purchase receipt — it's your proof to redeem any covered service.

This Extended Care Plan is non-transferable and only applies to the original purchaser.

After 3 Years

As your 3-year plan approaches its end, we'll send you a renewal notification with your options to extend coverage — ensuring continuous protection and care for your cherished jewellery.

Even after the plan ends, Rudix customers always have access to our service team for cleaning, repairs, and care advice at our member-friendly rate.

Governing Law

This Extended Care Plan shall be governed by and construed under the laws of Ontario, Canada.
